The Challenge

Many businesses have difficulty assesing which locations are most suitable for their expansion. Each assesment comes with unique needs and goals and is very heard to measure. Analysts and strategists, who do this as a profession, rely on tips from brokers and complex processes to get partial answers. There is no known digital tool in their field that helps them in this process. Furthermore, this assesment process is not accessable to stakeholders that aren't analysts, who are of iterest for it as well. The interest for assesment is for past decisions as well, meaning current active business locations, not only new location. The term "locations" refers here not not only to sites, but also to retail nodes and markets. 

What if this location assesment and selection was accesable and measurable for both advanced and mid-level stakeholders? What if all those unique needs and tweaks of each business could define the score of each potential location and the scope of opportunities will exceed the coverage brokers provide?

The Goal

Clarify what is most valuable and doable for the first milestone

Define, design and test the vision for future milestones

Execution Scope

Product UX, managing stakeholders, research, UI, prototyping, presenting, cartography, QA, expanding the design system, documentation

Milestone 1

Select any existing business that is a chain

View potential sites scores by 4 parameters (population, cannibalization, demographic fit, competition density)

Use filters and settings to further customize results

Create a short list by saving most suitable sites

Open a match analysis report to further analyse the fit between the selected chain and the selected site of interest

Milestone 2

Take into account the car volume around any potential site by turning on the traffic layer

Filter for car volume of interest and road types of interest

Add custom locations by dropping a pin or typing coordinates for evaluation

Evaluate sites by drive distance as well

Check parameters of similarity to specific well performing branches of the chain
